About My Employee Group Benefits

We are an independent group benefits brokerage based in Mississauga, Ontario. We work with small and mid-sized Canadian employers (usually between ten and two hundred and fifty employees) to design, place, and manage employee benefits programs.

How we started

My Employee Group Benefits was founded in 2014 by a small team of benefits advisors who had spent the previous decade inside large carriers and national brokerages. We started this firm because we saw the same problem repeatedly: small and mid-sized employers were paying for plans they did not understand, renewing each year on terms they could not effectively challenge, and asking HR managers to fix problems the carrier portal had created.

Twelve years later that is still the gap we work in. The companies we serve are growing. They have outgrown the off-the-shelf plan their carrier first proposed, but they have not yet hit the scale where a national brokerage gives them real attention. That middle range is who we built this firm for.

How we work

Every engagement starts the same way: a discovery conversation to understand the team, the existing plan, the past two renewal cycles, and what the employer is trying to achieve. From there we benchmark against comparable Ontario employers, identify gaps and overspend, and bring a short list of options from the carrier market.

  • We are independent. We are not owned by any carrier, and we do not receive volume incentives that would influence which carrier we recommend.
  • We hold Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) accreditation across our advisor team and carry Errors and Omissions coverage.
  • We work on a transparent fee or commission model, so the employer always sees how we are paid before signing an engagement.
  • We provide ongoing plan administration support, including enrollment, claims advocacy, and quarterly utilization reviews.

Who we work with

Most of our clients are Ontario-based employers in professional services, light manufacturing, technology, healthcare, skilled trades, and the non-profit sector. Headcounts typically range from ten to two hundred and fifty. We are licensed to place coverage in Ontario, and through partner advisors we can support multi-province plans across Canada.

  • Member, Canadian Group Insurance Brokers (CGIB).
